More and more companies are jumping on the NFT bandwagon and selling various NFT items. But what actually are non-fungible tokens? Why are Swiss companies using this new technology? And what role can NFTs play in the fight against counterfeiting? These questions will be discussed by expert presenters and a panel at our upcoming conference.

An overview of the situation

The event will also focus on the following topics relating to combating counterfeiting and piracy: the situation regarding counterfeit medicines in Switzerland and the EU; illegal online streaming services; and experiences with enforcing ‘Swissness’ in Switzerland and abroad.

The STOP PIRACY association and the Intellectual Property and Innovation Research Centre [PI]2 of the University of Neuchâtel will attempt to shed light on these topics at the conference ‘Best practices in the fight against counterfeiting & piracy – NFTs not your cup of tea? Well, they should: NFTs as a new way of fighting counterfeiting and piracy’. The event will take place on Thursday, 15 September 2022, at the University of Neuchâtel.
